The blog below, Christ's Hand Extended, is a daily scripture verse along with some words of encouragement related to that verse.  Feel free to comment or ask questions.  Jesus want you to come as you are to him and be saved.  You do not need to be free of sin to come to Jesus.  He came and died for us while we were still yet sinners to set us free.  Feel His hand reaching out to you and receive His love just as you are.  We hope these scriptures will be a blessing to you.
Christ's Hand Extended
Ephesians 4:13
till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

The part that struck me from this verse is "and of the knowledge of the Son of God" It emphasizes what was said in Eph 3:19 "to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God". Knowing Jesus, his love, his character and what He came to do is very important to our Father God. The more we know Jesus, the more we have will have His peace and reflect his characteristics until such a time as He comes again. Knowing Jesus will help you abide in Him. He is the vine and we are the branches. We can do nothing with out Him. We may try to bear fruit ourselves or seek wisdom from the world but it will be as of nothing. The truth and grace come only from Jesus and it is knowledge of Him and His love that we need to be seeking every day to know the joy and abundant life He came to bring us.

Galatians 3:10
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."

There is a question Paul asks in Galatians, "Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" Then another, "Therefore, He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We need to believe God that we are no longer justified, sanctified, or anything else by doing works to try and follow the law. We will all fail. We are under the blood of Jesus. We, as believers, are now children of God and may come to Him at anytime to commune with Him. We are justified by faith in the precious blood of Jesus and we may depend on Him as a child does his beloved father. Know His love for you and that He wants this close familial relationship with you. Be blessed!

2 Corinthians 10:5
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

At times, it's easy to get discouraged and it's easy to let thoughts that just don't need to be there roll around in your mind. If you are feeling discouraged or scared, review your thoughts. Anything that causes fear or discouragement will not line up with the truth of God. God says to not fear and to not be discouraged. If this happens, remember the obedience of Christ and that you are now in Christ. Focus on Jesus and He will help you guard your heart and mind against all the arguments and things that will steal your peace.

2 Peter 3:17-18
You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

We are revisiting this verse. It has recently been brought to my attention like a sledge hammer how subtle the devil is in dismantling the family in our world today. God set up families and holds them in high regard. The world can easily carry you along and appeal to your compassion for people to lead you astray. God's word holds the truth that we can come back to and measure everything against. Growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ is how we become more discerning to the lies and subtle deceptions going on and also how we learn how to handle it. The best gift you can give yourself and others this Christmas is to know more of the grace and character of our perfect and absolutely lovely Savior Jesus Christ.

Romans 15:5-6
Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The God of patience and comfort will grant us to be like-minded. Meaning, we will be patient and comfort one another, especially fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. As Jesus is the head of all churches, I can't help but think He would be heartbroken if churches and people within churches cannot get along and show unity to the world. We can accept the patience and comfort we get from Our God and pass it on to one another so we may be of one mind and one mouth to glorify Him.

Psalms 75:1
We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.

Thanksgiving is a time of thankfulness. Thankfulness is sprinkled liberally throughout the entire Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Jesus gave thanks for the little food that He had to work with before He fed over 5,000 people (John 6:11). Jesus gave thanks to God that He heard Him before He raised Lazarus from the dead. The apostles were continually giving thanks. Jesus shows us that it is so important to give thanks, even if it's just to thank God for what little you have or that He hears you when you need Him. Let us rejoice and be thankful today and every day.

Numbers 13:31
But the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we."

This verse shows us that God is not happy when we do not trust Him to keep His promises. He will not punish us or get angry with us under the New Covenant, but we will miss out on blessings, peace and security. It's hard sometimes to put our trust in an invisible God but it says in 2 For 4:18 that the things which we see are temporary but God, who is unseen, is eternal. We are to fix our eyes on the unseen, trusting that He is there and will keep His wonderful promises. When you doubt, you can reassure yourself, with full confidence, that you can stand firmly on the promises of God no matter what the situation may look like.

2 Corinthians 4:13
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak,

In this verse, which contains so much, I am focusing on "the same spirit of faith." I have felt at points in my life, and have prayed for others at points in their lives ,where we do not feel like we have faith enough for God to hear us. We do not need a friend or a pastor to pray to God for us because, once we are saved, we all the the same spirit of faith due to Jesus. God will hear us, no matter what our feelings say about it. That our God will hear us is now a fact we can believe and stand on. Our feelings can lie, but God cannot. We all will be heard and God will act according to His great and perfect will on our behalf.

Matthew 26:39
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."

Even the human part of Jesus did not want to endure what He had to go through for our salvation. I have been thinking about Jesus's journey to the cross and how God does not always rescue us from our trials. When he doesn't, He has a good reason. If I was among the loved ones of Jesus, watching Him endure the torment, I would have been praying to God with all my might to make it stop and to set Him free. Now we can see that the horrendous, excruciating experience Jesus went through was to bring the most perfect and priceless gift for us - life with our Father and Jesus now and forever. If the prayers of those that loved Jesus had been answered, they and we, would not be under the wonderful new convenant of grace nor have the personal relationship we have with our Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 27:13
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

The psalm this verse is within is entitled "An Exuberant Declaration of Faith." It is written by David, a man after God's own heart. If you are feeling a drop in your faith, read Psalm 27. He was going through some very tough times when he wrote this, yet He had his eyes focused on God and his faith was strengthened. This verse gives us a sure hope that God has His eyes on us and we will see His goodness, not just when we go to heaven, but here on earth. He does help us in the midst of trials and we can see His goodness each day. Let us watch for those many moments and focus on them to renew our faith and hope each day.

Hebrews 12:28
looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

When your faith is tested, don't give up. Take your stand and look to Jesus. He is the supplier of your faith. You may stand strong when you turn to Him. This isn't just words, it's a promise that I have trusted in time and time again and He always comes through. He will strengthen your faith right in the midst of a storm. It occurred to me when I was meditating on Isaiah 41:10 where it says, God will uphold us with His righteous right hand, that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. When God is holding us with His righteous right hand during a trial, then we are securely placed right between God and Jesus, with the Holy Spirit within us. I cannot think of a better place to be when needing comfort, strength or protection. It's a beautiful picture indeed.

Psalms 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

As we look at what is going on in the world today, we as believers are to be still. Not be still as in doing nothing, but be still in our hearts and have the peace to know that God is in control. There may be many who hate our God and demean us, try to kick Him our of our lives, persecute us, or even kill us but we are to know that our God knows what He is doing and he WILL be exalted in this country and all the earth. He even emphasized it with an exclamation point. Some day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is LORD. Be at peace.

Hebrews 6:19
This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil,

The hope spoken about in this passage is Jesus. We can flee for refuge in the midst of the storm to lay hold of this hope set before us. Jesus is both unbreakable and immoveable and serves as an anchor for us when the waves and winds are raging. Jesus is forever our High Priest, sitting in the Holy of Holies, making intercession for us. Cling to Him always as a sure and steadfast anchor, even when you do not understand what is going on. Trust that He does and is in control.

Psalm 62:6
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.

Our true rock is Jesus and He is our only salvation. When we stand on His word and in the shelter of His wings, He is our defense. Stand in Him and do not be moved for the battle you may be facing is the Lords (2 Chron 20:15, 1 Sam 17:47), He has overcome the world (1 John 4:4), He is your refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:2) and He is an ever-present help in trouble (Psalms 46:1). Be strong in the grace that is in Jesus Christ no matter what may be going on around you. (2 Timothy 2:1).

Psalm 63:6
When I remember you on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.

When time of trial hit and you feel anxiety you may be plagued with sleeplessness. David used this time to meditate on the Lord. This man after God's own heart always cried out his own heart out to the Lord and we now have this wonderful example and can see with our own eyes and hear with our own ears how God encouraged David and reminded him of His enduring compassion and mercy. The next verse says "because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. David is still waiting for God's help, and is still being hunted but he sees that he can continue to be safe in the Lord's shadow and then sings his praises. Pour out your heart to God with your troubles and meditate on His great mercy, grace and love so you too will rejoice.

James 5:11
Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord--that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

We all will be or are currently going through trials of some sort. During these times we must not think God has turned his face away from us but we should pour our hearts out to our Heavenly Father and trust in Him. We may not understand, as Job did not, what is going on but we must keep our hope in Him. He is our trusted Father and is VERY compassionate and merciful. Take your stand and stay close to the Lord when the winds and waves roar. When you do, He will bring you peace in the midst of the storm.

James 4:7
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

If there is a therefore, there is always a verse directly before that puts it into context. "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." None of us want to be known as proud in a bad way, but pride can rear it's ugly head in even the most innocuous areas of our lives. It is tough to examine ourselves for this quality of pride but, with God's grace, we can. Submitting to God is necessary to enjoy the abundant life Jesus came to bring us. How do we know if we have truly submitted? That is something each of us must sit with Jesus and pray to find out. He will show us the areas where pride is an issue with the grace in which He handled every sinner that came to Him with an open heart. If you read of His kindness towards the Samaritan women, the leper, the man at the pool....you will see how He will be treating you also. Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Satan comes to kill, steaL and destroy our families, our joy, our lives. By truly submitting to God you are resisting the devil and God Himself will fight your battles.

Proverbs 1:15
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path.

How many times have you heard or thought "everyone else is doing/saying it, so it must be ok." It's so easy for believers to get caught up in the drift of the world towards sin. Some may seem harmless because everyone else is doing it. However, this is where we need to ask God to search our hearts and reveal where we may be going down a wrong path. Each day we make choices of what we say and do with our time. Are they the choices we really want to make? If we are conscience of Jesus's presence with us, would we make the same choices? We are going to be voting soon and this also is a time for reflection, not on our values and needs, but what goes in line with The Truth-the Bible. Obviously there are many choices to consider but ask God what He views as the most important issues, listen and act accordingly when you make your decisions. This is something we can all work on each day until it becomes a habit. We have our place as a Child of God and our whole hearts need to be there too.

Philippians 3:9
and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

This topic can be very confusing. If you feel you are trying to good works or stomp down sin in your life in order for God to hear your prayers or even to feel right with God, you are not under grace. God hears your prayers and you are always right with God if you are under the grace of Jesus. Jesus is your righteousness and that can never fail. He fulfilled the law completely and His work is finished. This does not mean we can go sin freely however. Because we are saved by grace, we choose to do good works and our best not to sin because of our love of Jesus, our Savior. Being a Christian does not mean we are free of the flesh-which is sin- but it means that, despite that, we may have a right relationship with God because our sins are forgiven due to Jesus's finished work at the cross. Count on Jesus's grace and righteousness to be right with God, not your own. For if you are under the law, you are under the curse. Only fulfilling all the law perfectly will save you, and that is impossible to do. So turn to Jesus and be under grace.

Psalm 40:3
He has put a new song in my mouth--Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD.

Yes, we as Christians will go through trials. When we get smacked with terrible news, we may stumble but we will not fall. The key is to focus on the LORD. Ask Him for hope and encouragement when you feel hopeless and discouraged. Your situation may stay exactly the same but praise Jesus and find that 100% of the time, you will be uplifted and a new hope and light will be shining from you within minutes or days. Let others around you see this so they will have hope and faith in Jesus and, they too, can turn to Him when they have need. Especially those that do not yet know Him and how wonderful, loving and merciful He is.

Psalm 40:1-2
I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.

Sometimes we have to go through a trial that feels like the rug is pulled out from under you where you fly up in the air and splat on the ground. David trusted Saul and then had to run for his life away from him. He probably had a few troubled thoughts that he managed to set aside until a spear went flying by his head. Running and alone, He waited upon the LORD for help. During that time he matured in his walk with God and was provided the tools and people he needed to become the king God had chosen him to be. I pray that we all have the faith to turn to God and wait upon Him during the times when we are in a pit. He will hear our cries, lift us out, set us back up on solid ground and guide us through. Count on it.

Proverbs 21:1
The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, like rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.

It's easy to get fearful and dismayed at what is happening around the world these days and even in our own lives. It seems corruption and lies are rampant in those who have power over us at times. However, God's ultimate plans will not be thwarted. He has used pagan kings in the past such as Nebuchadnezzar and Cyrus to do His great works for His people. God has raised up all those who rule and He removes them as He sees fit (Dan 2:21). We need to remember that, though we don't understand, God has the world and our loved ones in His mighty hands.

Psalm 121:1-2
I will lift my eyes to the hills - from whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

At times when you really need help, you can prepare the horse for battle, but deliverance is from the LORD. He is the maker of all of heaven and earth and He is the one you need to turn your eyes to for help. He is the God that made the king in the book of Esther, happen to not sleep at night and hear the story of Mordecai saving him. Then Haman happened to be in the court to give the king advice and Haman was honored and subsequently hanged on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. God is not random or coincidental, He is mighty to save. Turn to Him and rest in His love, goodness and perfect wisdom and timing. Even if the result is not what you want or expect, you can know it's God's will when you have turned it all over to Him.

Psalm 63:2
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.

Sometimes we will have times where the world just seems to be crashing down upon us and everything is upside down and backwards. During these times we may feel paralyzed and cannot even pray. First, we need to know that God is with us, even when we cannot feel Him. Then, when He has renewed your strength, look to Him. See His love for you and see His power and glory in the scriptures. Call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall we be saved from our enemies-whatever they may be at the time (Psalm 18:3). In your distress, call upon the LORD, cry out to your God; He hears your voice from his temple, and your cry comes before Him, even to His ears. (Psalm 18:6). He loves you and He will help you.

Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is. good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.

We as believers who follow Jesus, have the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. However, just because we are walking righteous in front of God, through Jesus, doesn't mean we walk in uprightness in the world. When we are doing God's will and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can be a blessing to others and show the lost that following Jesus is a wonderful way to live. So many think Christians are too perfect or hypocrites or puppets on a string. Only God can help us act as we ought so that we may lead others to Him. David prayed these words and we also may do so.

Romans 15:7
Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.

We are brothers and sisters in the Family of God. There is no greater title than to be a deeply loved, deeply cherished child of God. Always be conscience of God's deep love for you and his deep love of your fellow brothers and sisters. It can be easy to judge or get irritated with each other but we are called to a higher level of love and patience with each other. We need to stand out in our ability to love each other, not blend into the rest of the world. Ask God for the wonderful ability to love your brothers and sisters beyond what you are capable of. Together we can unify our churches because others will see that love and want to be part of it. May God bless us all, in Jesus name.

John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all the things that I said to you.

The Holy Spirit was sent to glorify Jesus, take what was Him and declare it to us (John 16:13). He will teach us all we need to know if we will but listen. He will also bring to our remembrance all that Jesus has spoken. It's not always easy to remember or understand everything we read in the Bible. As we meditate on different scripture, the Holy Spirit will teach us and help us remember what we have learned. He is dwelling inside you as a believer. Be always aware of God's love for you in the form of the Holy Spirit within you.

Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Such an encouraging verse! We cannot always trust even our most beloved people around us because they will eventually let us down. No human is perfect but Jesus IS perfect and we can hope in His promise of salvation with no doubts that He will let us down.

Psalms 37:4
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Some people quote this verse like God is a magic genie and will grant their every wish if they throw some praises at Him. But delighting ourselves in the LORD is much more than just going through all the right avenues, such as going to church, bible study, teaching Sunday school or even preaching. Delighting ourselves in the LORD is taking a "high degree of gratification or pleasure". If something delights you, you cannot get enough of it. And the more you get of our LORD, the more you become transformed like him. Therefore, the desires of your heart will be in alignment with His. This is not an overnight process but it will happen. Take great joy and delight in our LORD throughout each day. He is so wonderful!
